 Each year, BEDC recognizes the commitment of our local business community by celebrating their achievements and investment in Burlington.  These awards, previously known as the High Five Business Awards, are being re-shaped to reflect our focus of prosperity and brand alignment for Burlington.

Now called the businessFirst Awards, they are identified and aligned through our corporate calling program, which is aimed at facilitating and enhancing opportunities for local businesses to prosper and grow.
 

Selection Criteria

Companies are evaluated against the following five criteria:

1.  Value added 
Is the company producing higher valued products and services?

2.  Innovation
Does the company encourage innovation?
Is there major investment in research and development?

3.  Community Involvement
Has the company created good exposure for Burlington as place to conduct business?
Is the company growing and will it continue to invest its' Burlington facility?
Is the company involved or prepared to be involved in the Burlington community?

4.  Training & Staff Development
Does the company invest in the development of its' staff?

5.  Exports
Are the products and services of the company being exported out of Canada?
Does the company have global product mandates?
