BOARD TASK FORCES

Employment Lands

To review the findings, conclusions and strategic options contained in the Employment Lands study with respect to identifying key issues and opportunities affecting Burlington's ability to accommodate short-term and future growth of industrial and commercial operations.   Recommend strategic directions for overcoming barriers to growth and capturing new development within the Region.  Identify and prioritize initiatives, advise on and monitor implementation.  

Education/Workforce Development

To assess the immediate and long-term workforce development needs of Burlington's business community and engage our post-secondary institutions.  Recommend strategic directions for ensuring that the city has the right workforce to allow it to compete globally.   Advise BEDC on the establishment of McMaster University's Advanced Management Centre in Burlington along with other opportunities to augment the city's education and training infrastructure.

 Economic Development Strategy

To assess the impact BEDC can have on the performance of the city's economy and refine the goals and objectives of the strategy as needed.  Ensure greater alignment with the City's Strategy - Future Focus 7.  Advise on the development of performance measurements to assess the achievement of BEDC's goals and objectives.
