Human Resource Incentives

The following provides you with further details on the provincial and federal government programs that are available to you when in the process of hiring new employees:


Job Connect/Wage Subsidy Program:

  • Candidates are between the ages of 16-24 years and Internationally Trained Individuals
  • The candidate should be out of school and unemployed
  • Subsidies up to $4,000 per hire
  • This program also has access to apprentices

Job Finding Club

  • Candidates are Internationally Trained Individuals
  • Free recruitment source for employers.
  • Candidates may be eligible for a Wage Subsidy (50% of salary for (4 -16 weeks).  The subsidy is delivered by Service Canada.

The Halton Mentorship Program

  • Candidates are Internationally Trained Individuals
  • This program offers companies the opportunity to mentor Internationally Trained Individuals.
  • Employees volunteer during work hours (4 hours monthly), mentoring Internationally Trained Professional. 
  • Incentives include; increased community profile for the company, positive opportunity for the mentor/ mentee, a qualified recruitment source and an increased knowledge of diversity within the workforce.

Job Opportunities for Youth/Wage Subsidy Program

  • Company must pay more than $8.50/hour and offer a full time position (35 hours per week)
  • The candidate must be out of school for at least three months with no plan to return to school
  • The candidate can not be receiving employment insurance, or have received employment insurance in the past three years
  • Youth are under 30 years of age
  • The program assists you in submitting an application for a wage subsidy, the decision to provide the subsidy remains with Service Canada
  • 50% of the new employees salary is covered for a period of 4 -16 weeks
  • Takes approximately 10 business days to process
